Due to ongoing concern with transmission of airborne illnesses, dental practices are encouraged to review the Jan. 15, 2025 CDPH Guidance for Ventilation, Filtration, and Air Quality in Indoor Environments to Reduce Risk of Respiratory Infections (note that it is no longer an interim guidance). The CDC also offers guidance for dental practices on improving air quality in its Infection Control Guidance: SARS-CoV-2.
After reviewing the guidance documents, an employer should take reasonable steps to improve the air quality within their facility. An employer will want to consult with appropriate professionals, such as HVAC contractors or building engineers, before undertaking significant changes.
