This course is an overview of the typical anatomical structures visualized in a Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scan; it also covers variations of normal anatomy and the pathological processes that appear in a 3D scan. Radiographic presentation of significant pathologies, including malignancies with clinical cases, is discussed. A comprehensive discussion on soft tissue calcifications that may be seen in a CBCT scan and strategies to diagnose them radiographically is provided. Learning Objectives: Through reviewing clinical cases become familiar with radiographic signs of important pathologies in CBCT images. Be able to recognize the cases where CBCT can add diagnostic value to accurate diagnosis of the case (Selection criteria). Be able to describe common radiographic findings associated with different jaw pathosis including cystic, neoplastic, fibro-osseous, and more. Be able to diagnose common soft tissue radiopacities in 2D and 3D images.
