Governor OKs dentist tissue bank exemption
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation in late September that will immediately ensure that dentists do not have to obtain a tissue bank license from the state if they are storing pre-packaged allograft tissue in their offices, saving affected dentists $975 a year in licensing fees. Denti-Cal rates restored to pre-cut amounts
Following a series of multifaceted legal events, Denti-Cal and Medi-Cal claims are being processed without the 10 percent rate reduction that had been in effect since July 1. Although the state budget agreement reached in late September retained the rate cut until March 1, 2009, for the time being the recent legal actions restoring the cuts are expected to supersede the budget act.
