Registration/DEA Number - Dentists in California are required to have a DEA number only if they prescribe or dispense controlled substances. Application for and renewal of DEA numbers can be done online.
List of Approved Security Prescription Printers - The Office of the Attorney General web site has resources for complying with state law and a list of approved printers for the secured prescription forms.
California Department of Justice’s Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement (Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System) CURES program - Report lost or stolen secured prescription forms, obtain patient activity reports, and check on suspected drug seekers by contacting this state office. Controlled substances dispensing logs also are provided regularly to CURES.
