Denti-CAL Training
CDT codes will shortly be replacing outdated Denti-Cal procedure codes as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA. That code-conversion project, in process for over two years, was originally scheduled to roll out in the fall of 2005. Shortly after a November 1 implementation date was announced in the August issue of the CDA Update, CDA was notified by Denti-Cal that unexpected difficulties will delay implementation until next year. The CDT- 4 training classes that were scheduled for Fall 2005 have also been cancelled. CDA will issue updates on the new roll out date and seminar schedule as information becomes available (see seminar schedule below). The Denti-Cal Bulletin will also advise providers about this project.
Also, Denti-Cal offers other free training seminars, also with CE credits, to help dentists navigate the Denti-Cal system, and minimize returned and unpaid claims. These regularly offered seminars are:
Basic Seminars introduce dental offices to the Medi-Cal Dental Program, enrollment and eligibility and use of proper billing procedures. 3 CE credits
Workshops cover enrollment and eligibility, criteria and current program changes, hands-on form completion and HIPAA information updates. 6 CE credits
Advanced Seminars are where dentists present criteria for other dentists and staff and actual treatment slides are viewed. 4 CE credits
Orthodontic Seminars are designed for Denti-Cal dentists who limit their practices to orthodontics only and provide comprehensive information on certification, enrollment, billing procedures and criteria. 3 CE credits
