Direct Reimbursement is an innovative approach to self-funding of employee dental benefits. It is strongly supported by the California Dental Association and the American Dental Association as a cost-effective way to provide a dental plan for employees that gives them the freedom to choose their dentists.
What is a Direct Reimbursement Dental Plan?
Direct Reimbursement is a self-funding strategy that allows employers to provide dental benefits for employees without insurance company involvement. Patients pay their dentist for treatment on a fee-for-service basis. The employer then reimburses the employee for all (or a portion of expenses) up to an annual maximum allowance.
DR is Simple
Direct Reimbursement is simple to use and easy to understand. Employees can receive treatment from a dentist they choose and can use their benefit allowance on the treatment that they and their dentist feel best meets their dental needs. Because insurance overhead and profits are eliminated, the concept is extremely cost-effective. Employers report savings of 20 percent, 40 percent and even 60 percent.
We need you to help us introduce employers to the Direct Reimbursement strategy. It's easy. Just keep copies of our informational brochure in your office. Share the information with patients and friends, especially those who are decision-makers where they work. Recommend that they consider Direct Reimbursement when they review their employee benefit package. Tell them that Direct Reimbursement allows them to provide quality, cost-effective dental benefits, without sacrificing their employees' right to choose their dentists.
