CDA Leadership Opportunities
Why follow when you can lead? By becoming a CDA dental student class representative or a student member of the Committee on the New Dentist, you can put your professional advancement on the fast track. And by becoming a member of the Committee on the New Dentist, you’ll give voice to issues and concerns shared by dentists practicing for 10 years or less.
Dental Student Leadership

As a dental student class representative you will:
- Represent your dental school at the annual CDA House of Delegates.
- Help plan and promote CDA events to your class.
- Participate in CDA legislative activities, including the annual Legislative Day.

Committee on the New Dentist Student Member
As a student member of the Committee on the New Dentist (CND), you will:
- Act as the liaison between dental schools and the CND.
- Communicate important dental student issues and concerns to the CND.
- Plan and promote dental student and new dentist events to dental schools.

For more information about becoming a student member of the Committee on the New Dentist, contact Conor McNulty, CDA Staff Support, at 800.CDA.SMILE, ext. 4978 or conor.mcnulty@cda.org.
New Dentist Leadership
One of the most effective ways to express your opinion and voice your concerns as a new dentist is to join CDA’s Committee on the New Dentist (CND). Committee members have been practicing for 10 years or less and work on issues specific to them—and you. You may serve as a guest member on other CDA councils and committees to represent the new dentist perspective.
Please visit the Path to Leadership page for more information on the Committee on the New Dentist, additional leadership development opportunities and the application process.
