Council on Endorsed Programs
Mission Statement
The mission of the Council on Endorsed Programs is to identify, evaluate and monitor quality programs and services that enhance the value of California Dental Association (CDA) membership.
Primary Duties
1. The council shall meet on a regular and timely basis to provide necessary oversight and direction related to the endorsed programs of the California Dental Association.
2. The council shall monitor the performance of current programs and perform the necessary due diligence with respect to current and proposed endorsed programs.
3. The council shall recommend to the CDA Board of Trustees any actions relating to its endorsement of a specific program, service or vendor.
4. The council’s assesment of a program shall be based, primarily, on the program’s value to CDA members.
5. The council shall manage the existing endorsed programs to maximize non-dues revenue.
6. The council shall endeavor to grow brand awareness of CDA-Endorsed Programs.
7. The council shall report quarterly to the CDA Board of Trustees and annually to the CDA House of Delegates.
Qualifications, Special Skills and Knowledge
1. Must possess good business and/or scientific knowledge.
2. Should have sufficient time to review and evaluate various materials and reports relative to existing and proposed programs.
3. Should be able to accommodate a schedule that may include additional meeting times and allow sufficient time for presentations by prospective vendors and occasional meetings with vendors.
4. Must possess the ability to critically evaluate new program concepts, proposals and potential vendors.
5. Entrepreneurial skills would be beneficial.
Time Requirements
• 4 – one-day meetings per year, and up to 2 additional one–day meetings to hear vendor presentations
• Up to 2 conference calls per year – as needed
• Biennial executive directors retreat 2–day meeting (strongly encouraged)
• Vendor hosting at sessions – as needed
Composition
The Council on Endorsed Programs has seven members. One member is the CDA secretary serving as an ex officio, voting member. The other six members are nominated and elected as described in Bylaws Chapter VIII, Section 20.
Terms of Office
Members are elected to three-year terms. Two members are elected each year. Consecutive tenure is limited to two full terms of three years each.
