Become a Volunteer Leader


Follow the steps below for an opportunity to impact the future of CDA and the dental profession by serving as a volunteer leader.

What you need to know before you apply:

  1. 2011, 2012 and 2013 Available Positions
  2. Job descriptions for councils, committees and boards
  3. Application Requirements – All applicants must submit a CDA Leadership Application and a current CV. Applications for 2011 CDA or ADA delegate positions are due by no later than 5 p.m. on June 1, 2010. Applications for ADA council positions are due by no later than 5 p.m. on March 1, 2010.
  4. The online application takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. Applications must be completed and submitted to CDA in order for your information to be saved in our database. In 2011, we will offer a feature that will allow applicants to save their application before it is completed so they can work on it in sections as their schedules permit.

  2. Submit your current CV. A template has been provided.
  3. Alternatively, we can accept hard copy applications. To receive a hard copy of the application by mail or fax, please contact Alysia Melton at alysia.melton@cda.org or at 916.554.5911.

I’ve applied. Now what?

  1. Leadership applications for 2011 positions will be accepted through June 1, 2010.
  2. You will receive an e-mail confirmation with your application information.
  3. The Committee on Volunteer Placement will make its recommendations for candidates to fill leadership positions. These recommendations will be forwarded to the August meeting of the Board of Trustees.
  4. The board will nominate candidates for approval by the House of Delegates.
  5. In September, you will receive notification if your name has been forwarded to the House of Delegates.
  6. The House of Delegates will elect new leaders in November.
  7. By mid-December, you will receive notification of the election results.
